Yanina Vladimir stands barefoot on a palm trunk curving over still water, looking up through the canopy, photographed by Olya Helga.

Somewhere between a botanical garden and a jungle, a palm tree bends low enough over still green water to stand on. Olya Helga puts Yanina Vladimir on it — barefoot, in a black one-piece, framed entirely by fronds and trunk — and the resulting image looks like paradise. The whole series plays out in this kind of pocket wilderness, all dappled golden light filtering through a dense canopy.

Vladimir may be a London-based model but there's nothing urban about the photo set here. Helga, a Ukrainian photographer working out of Los Angeles, finds an environment that lets the location overwhelm the garment in the best possible way.

The black of the swimsuit becomes a graphic cut-out against all that green and gold, and Helga leans into the contrast rather than softening it. And there's an unmistakable looseness to the posing that matches the setting.
